Jessica Jones – Season 2

After waiting two and half years, the second season of the Original series Jessica Jones – the Marvel female superhero- is finally here. Without spoiling too much, this new chapter follows our heroine in the process of dealing with the consequences of killing the big villain Kilgrave, and attempting to put her life back together. We will also see how “a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why”

Ladies First

Genre: Documentary /Sport/ Gender Equality

#LadiesFirst is a campaign that aims to inspire girls to overcome the many social, cultural and physical obstacles preventing them from participating in sports”

Another strong female lead character, this time real-life based. This documentary tells the inspirational story of the Indian athlete Deepika Kumari, who “born on the roadside to abject poverty in rural India, went in search of food, stumbled upon archery, and within four years became the number one archer in the World”. It follows her dream to win the Golden Medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics, how by fighting all odds she has become a role model and beacon of hope for all women.

Ricky Gervais: Humanity

Genre: Stand Up Comedy

Recorded in London’s Apollo Hammersmith, this Netflix Original stand-up comedy special, sees the return of the famous British comedian, Ricky Gervais. This piece is described as “a scathing special that touches on ageing, becoming spoiled, his perspective on having kids and more”

The Defiant Ones

Genre: Documentary / Music

The critically acclaimed HBO documentary, directed by Allen Huges, about Jimmie Iovine – Apple Music Chief and founder of Interscope Records – and Dr. Dre – Compton’s rap artist and music producer. It portrays the improbable partnership, unbreakable friendship between the two and “their surprising leading roles in a series of transformative events in contemporary culture”

The series, The Defiant Ones, is comprised of 4 episodes and features guest stars of high calibre such as, Eminem, Marylin Manson and Bono -amongst many others. Winner of the 2018 Grammy’s for Best Music Film, it is must see for hip-hop and modern pop fans.

Alexa and Katie

Genre: TV/ Sitcom

This Netflix Original bittersweet sitcom follows the adventures of two American teenagers, Alexa and Katie. A tale of heart-warming friendship, that sees the two best friends “eagerly anticipating the start of their freshman year of high school”, while Katie supports Alexa in her undergoing cancer treatment. A new point of view on the high school years, the difficulties of fitting in and life throwing curve balls your way, all of which can be easier if you have a good friend by your side.
